Every remodel tells a story — and for us, the most meaningful part of the process is finding ways to blend fresh updates with elements that are special to the homeowner. Our role as a design-build remodeling team in the Lake Norman area isn't just about improving layouts and finishes. It’s about listening to what matters most to each family and weaving those details into the design so the home feels both new and deeply personal.
A Lakefront Remodel with Heart
One of our recent projects was a 1980’s lakefront home where the now-grown children had spent their entire childhood. The goal was to update the space so the next generation could keep making memories in the same beloved home.
During the remodel, we balanced modern updates with touches of nostalgia. The family chose to keep the original bathroom lighting, a quirky detail that still brings back memories. And while the worn parquet flooring in the foyer needed to be replaced, they requested something with a similar vintage feel as a way to preserve the character of the entryway while giving it new life.
Why Personal Details Matter
A remodel should reflect more than just trends. When a design includes elements that are meaningful to the homeowner — whether it’s a piece of original lighting, a favorite floor pattern, or even a special view framed just right — the result is a home that feels both refreshed and rooted in family history.
Our Design Philosophy
At Turner Design Build, we believe remodeling is about connection as much as construction. By working closely with homeowners, we ensure every project balances modern function with personal touches that make a house truly feel like home.
